The Oregon Buzz

Think about it... If our public educators were really doing a great job over the past one, two, ten, or fifty years; if they were truly effective; if our education-bound tax dollars were well-spent, would we not see more and more truly educated young citizens entering society?  Would not our workforce be more productive, our writers more literate, our art more refined?  Wouldn't the cost of a public building decrease as our bright young engineers bring new and better methods to the fore?  Seems that way to me, but I just don't see it.
